Fiona Bruce

Fiona has been an actor for 28 years, working in mainstream theatre, Theatre in Education, television, radio, voice-over and corporate training/ development. Originally from Aberdeen, Fiona studied French at Newcastle University, then went on to train as an actor at Studio ’68 in London and Ecole Jacques Lecoq in Paris.

Theatre Credits

Theatre credits include: Mrs Fezziwig in Scrooge at Pitlochry Festival Theatre, Baruska in Once-the Musical in the West End and on tour, and Widow Corney/Mrs Bedwin in Bolton Octagon’s highly successful Oliver Twist. She also played Cathy in Casualties for Mad Dogs Theatre Company, the lead role in Mother Courage (Watford Palace Theatre), Camille Claudel in The Waltz (West Yorkshire Playhouse), Jenny in Threepenny Opera (London Bubble Theatre), Beth Cuxom in The Mayor of Casterbridge (Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham) and Olga in the much-acclaimed Playing for Time (Salisbury Playhouse).

TV Credits

TV credits include Last of The Summer Wine, The Royal, Emmerdale, Where the Heart Is, Heartbeat, Prime Suspect, The Ward, Grange Hill and Anne Hardy inTaggart (The Rapture). Most recently she appeared as Dr. Curtis in Coronation Street.
Fiona has also worked on a huge variety of voice-over projects, including computer games, Spanish and French language tutorials and interactive training projects, and has also worked on projects for Radio 4 and Swedish Radio.

Corporate/Training

She has worked widely in the corporate sector as an actress/deviser/role-player. She has recently worked on two bilingual roleplay projects: For Pearn Kandola for Glaxo Smith Kline in French, and for Invisalign in French and Spanish. Fiona also spent nine months working for Ian Dodds Consulting and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, delivering diversity-training to sixteen British Embassies in Europe and the Middle East. This programme, entitled Making the Most of Difference was winner of the 2009 Global Diversity Innovation Award.

She has also done diversity-training for the Home Office, Citibank and Government Offices. Other corporate work includes staff-training for Unison and role-play for the training of graduate engineers with Thales Training. Fiona has also worked for Novartis, training sales reps in voice and presentation skills, and has worked on a training project for the Pensions Regulator.

In 2005 she researched, set up and ran training sessions for East Sussex County Council for employees needing French in order to communicate effectively with their French counterparts.

Fiona is a qualified teacher both in MFL in secondary schools and EFL. She speaks French and Spanish fluently and has worked in France and Spain as well as the UK.
